Meet the Writer
Hi there! My name is Yuli Kizler. I am based out of Southern CA and spend the best parts of my day with my husband and daughter. I am on the pastoral staff at a local church and serve in the nonprofit space, intersecting faith and real life in the city. My academic journey began at Vanguard University from a Bachelor to Masters degree, focusing on Music, Theology, and Leadership. Now, I am nearing the end of a Doctor of Ministry program at Southeastern University, focusing on practical theology. Spiritual formation and what it brings to the church has been a life changing learning experience for me. it has inspired me to share the richness and depth of the theological academic journey with those who may never feel called to set foot in a classroom but know its value.
I began Soulabyss out of a growing awareness that many ministries are carrying more than they have language for. Over the years, serving in church leadership, nonprofit spaces, and curriculum development in the academic space, I saw how often communities were given materials that felt disconnected from their real questions, pressures, and hopes.
My work now centers on holistic formation. As a Doctor of Ministry student, my research explores how identity, theology, and culture shape the way people and communities are formed. I care deeply about resources that are theologically substantial, emotionally aware, and thoughtfully designed for the context they serve. I see the church in all it’s beauty and it’s need and want to be a support for ministers trying to bring people to the way of Jesus.
I do not come as an outside expert with a preset solution. I come as a listener. Soulabyss is built on the belief that what has been entrusted to a ministry deserves careful discernment and intentional stewardship. There’s a shared love for the church to be offered here and every resource is created through prayer, conversation, biblical study supported by intentional research, and collaboration, so that what is formed is faithful to who you are and who you serve.
My Approach
I begin with listening. Before creating anything, I seek to understand your culture, context, calling, and the people you serve. Every ministry carries a unique set of influences, questions, and responsibilities that deserve careful discernment.
Then we go to the drawing board. Is this making sense? Is God speaking? Are we discovering new things? This is the fun part! The learning part.
From there, I design research informed and theologically grounded material, shaped specifically for your setting. I care about formation that integrates identity, theology, relationships, and culture rather than offering disconnected information that feels generic and lacks depth or intentionality.
My approach is collaborative and attentive. I do not bring a preset program. I work alongside you to create something unique to who you are and what has been entrusted to you.
